Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer trial classes?

We offer a free trial class for KinderGym, which you can book through the Enrolmy site. You will be charged the registration fee, but you don’t need to pay this unless you continue with your booking after the free trial.

To trial any other class, book into the class as normal on the Enrolmy site but don’t pay yet. The student can participate in their first class then decide if they want to continue. If they want to continue, you can go ahead and pay the invoice. If they don’t want to continue, please email to let us know and your booking will be adjusted to pay for just that one class (no registration paid).

My child goes between households, can I book them in for only every second week?

Yes, we’re very happy to accommodate different family arrangements. Just enrol through the website as normal but don’t pay yet. Then send an email to sofungymnastics@outlook.com with this information “<child name> is enrolled in <which class>, can they please be enrolled every second week with their first class on <the first day they’ll attend>.” For example, “Charlie Best is enrolled in 3.45pm Monday, can they please be enrolled every second week with their first class on 26 April”. Our admin volunteer will adjust your booking and send you an updated invoice.

Do you take Active or Creative Kids vouchers?

Yes, we take both. Please enter the details when you enrol, or if you missed that step, please email the voucher to sofungymnastics@outlook.com along with your child’s birthdate.

The class I want is full, what can we do?

Use the booking system to join the wait list. There’s no cost to do this. We review the wait list each week and, depending on the mix of enrolments in the class and coach availability, we might be able to open more spots. If this happens, you’ll be moved from the wait list into the class before it’s open to any other enrolments.

My child will be absent, what should I do?

Please message the So Fun number 0487 390 490 to let the coaches know. If you know which make up class your child will do, please include that in the text message. For example “Charlie’s in the 3.45pm Monday class and will be away 16 April. They’ll do Friday 3.45pm as a make up.” Coaches check this phone before each class.

My child missed a class, what can we do?

Your child can do any other class within the term as a make up class. Unfortunately make up classes can’t carry over into school holiday programs or the next term. If your child needs to miss more than two classes due to a major injury, extended illness or a change in family circumstances, please email explaining the situation and we might be able to arrange a credit for the missed classes. The Committee might approve a refund in particular limited circumstances.

My child’s not comfortable wearing a leotard, or needs a particular covering because of religious, medical, menstrual or other reasons. Can they still do gymnastics?

Absolutely! During any So Fun class, students can wear whatever they are comfortable in as long as it is safe and they can move freely. Safe clothing is clothing that won’t get caught on apparatus or that other students might accidentally step or catch on. Jeans, denim shorts, capes, clothes with lots of decorative tassels etc are not suitable for gymnastics. For gymnastics your child might like to wear sports shorts, leggings, singlets, crop tops, t-shirts, track pants, leotards or unitards. Cultural and religious head wear needs to be close fitting and secure so that it won’t come loose when the student is jumping and tumbling. Hair needs to be tied back e.g. in a ponytail, bun or plait.

What about uniforms at competitions?

Gymnastics Australia has worked hard to make the sport more inclusive for all, including providing more comfortable uniform options for people who are menstruating, who don’t want to feel pressure to remove body hair, or who need particular coverings for whatever reason. From the Gym NSW Regulations (please note that not all Gym Sports have female and male gender categories):

  • Female athletes must wear a club leotard or unitard (one-piece leotard with full length legs -hip to ankle or one-piece leotard with the athletes’ preferred leg length). Leotards may be short or long-sleeve.

    • Athletes have the option of wearing bike shorts, short gymnastic pants (non- form fitting lycra shorts) or complete leg coverings (tights/leggings); under or on top of the leotard. The shorts or leg coverings must be in the club colours and in keeping with the aesthetic design of the leotard.

  • Club team leotards (including for group or multiple competitions) must be identical in design. Athletes will be able to individually select their preferred leg and sleeve length, or to choose to wear shorts or pants with their leotard. If an athlete chooses to wear shorts or pants, they must be of identical colour/design to the shorts or pants worn by other athletes from their club (if chosen).

From the Gym NSW MAG Regulations, male athletes must wear:

  • Club tracksuit and t-shirts (must have the club logo clearly displayed)

  • Club leotard

  • Shorts/long pants

  • Plain white socks

  • Street attire/NSW State or Australian uniform (past or current) is not permitted

  • An athlete must have short hair or if long hair tied back

  • Jewellery is not permitted (earrings, bracelets, watches etc.)

  • Body Piercing must be covered/removed by attire or tape

  • Masters are permitted to compete in a club t-shirt/singlet and club shorts/long pants

  • Athletes in level 1 & 2 may wear a club t-shirt/singlet and shorts in place of leotard and

    longs.
